| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | RJ11 to RJ45 adapter to connect wgt624v3 to the internet Hi Bit of a problem here and wanted to see if anyone could tell me if the following is possible and will work. I have a wgt624v3 Netgear 108 Mbps wireless firewall router and wish to connect it to the internet, and then use the wireless signal to connect the other pc's to the net, my problem is that I have tried to use a RJ11 and connect it to the back of the router in the RJ45 port that is marked internet, but it won't pick up the internet connection, I have searched other sites that say it is possible for a RJ11 to work in a RJ45 port but it's not working for me, so I found a RJ11 to RJ45 adapter and was hoping that if i use this and convert the RJ11 cable connection to the RJ45 connector and then plug this into the back of the router this would give me an internet connection, would this work? Thanks for the help |

| Win7x64 | Re: RJ11 to RJ45 adapter to connect wgt624v3 to the internet Sounds to me like you might be trying to teach a router to function as an ADSL modem. That won't work ![]() What's the other end of the RJ11 phone cable plugged into? That Netgear device is probably not an ADSL modem, hence the "ethernet" (RJ45) plug on its back, as opposed to a phone (RJ11) jack. It would need an ADSL modem upstream of it do actually handle the phone stuff. Then again, I've never owned one of those devices and I could be dead wrong. |
