Vista - History deleted.. is it anywhere else on computer?

how can i find webiste history if it has been deleted through internet explorer? isnt there anywhere else i can find history of websites? my nephew used my laptop and his mom said he's been looking at dirty sites and i wanted to know and let her know how to find out where you can find history.

Hello Pinkiestar,

I'm not sure you will be able to view the browsing history since it was deleted, but they are storeed at the hidden C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files folder. You might be able to use the free program Recuva to restore the files at that location to see where he was at though.

You might keep him on a Standard account instead and setup Parental Controls on it, then enable website filtering to help block what he can access on the internet.

Have you thought about using a keylogger?

Or you could just pretend hes a good boy. 9 / 10 kids in the UK alone have watched some by the age of 11. And if he has deleted the history i think its pretty obvious...

If you have Previous versions , you may be able to restore it from there.

Otherwise, the free ShadowExplorer was able to find the Temporary Internet files folder on my system in a shadow copy made by system restore.
