| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Does Vista Hate My ISP? I am sorry for not explaining myself better. I seem to have a great deal of trouble acquiring a valid ip addy upon start up. (just the vista pc...not xp or 2K). Its always a 169 addy, have my xbox 360 as an extender(to access my vista hdd). It seems that the only way I can achieve a connection to the web on my network is "through" my xbox. I go to my 360's dash and keep clicking on media center until it finds my pc. When it does my ip goes from a "169" addy to a "192" addy. I hope this makes sense, no tech support from verizon or microsoft can figure it out. I am told that there is no way for this to happen. | Vista Home Premium 32 Bit | Re: Does Vista Hate My ISP? Ok i have an idea that may/maynot work going on by what you have told me, my idea is to assign your computer with an IP address that can access the internet, Next time you connect your xbox upto your computer and the IP changes try this. Start - Control panal - Network And Sharing Center - Access (Local Area Network) - Properties - TCV/IPv4 - Then Properties (Top Tab, Alternative Configeration) Dont automaticly get Ip address change it to the IP address and Information that the Xbox is giving your computer, give that a go, if that doesnt work change it to something like 192.168.123.*** Hope this helps a bit. |
