IE will only connect to secure websites.

Hello guys and gals. I am running windows vista with a wireless connection to the internet.
I am unable to surf the web, but surprisingly enough I am able to view secure web sites only. Running IE to access the web. I am at quite a loss here. I have tried disabling firewalls and the like and still no internet. What is strange is that the computer shows that I am fully connected to the internet. Signal strength is good. I am at my wits end and would appreciate any help or course of actions the users here would like me to follow. I do plan on telling everyone that helped if it worked or not, so others can come here and find a solution. I am sure there are many others who a very frustrated with this problem also.

Is there a winsock reset for windows vista? Would that work?

NETSH WINSOCK RESET

I'd be surprised if that helped though, seeing as how Winsock settings don't by default differentiate between HTTP and HTTPS connections.

There is a tutorial here on how to perform an IE reset. You may have picked up an IE add-on which is interfering with non-SSL operation.

I believe it the version that came with vista so version 7. I tried the winsock reset and it didn't help.
I also tried the IE with no addons and it didn't work either.

Thanks so far, what other methods do you suggest.

I am running version 7, the version that came with the OS. The winsock didn't help so you were right.
I tried to browse via IE no add-ons and still no luck.
Thanks so far, any other course of action you recommend.

Test what happens when you boot to [safe mode + net] and attempt to browse from there.
