Vista - how do i create a network?

hi! lewismc here!
i was wondering how do i create a network ive got only so far but my printer says its offline and i cant use it,my router/modem dose not have a USB port so i have to connect it through another computer through cat5 cable to a router then wireless to my laptop and other 4 computers i know its posssible and you dont need to buy stuff to do it but how do i do it? im looking for instructions and a detailed diagram also any home network secerts would help me so much thanks.

thanks i have looked in vista totorials and i found 1 article but it only had instructions i was looking for a tortorial that had pictures as well so i can fully grasp the concept

also i forgot to mention,i have set it up but on the laptops the printer appears offline,as well as the tortorial when i try to add a printer as it says so in the instructions i recive this message
"you do not have sufficent rightd to add a printer"
i am the administrator so i'am slightly confused.
