Vista - Yahoo IE upgrade error 1606

Guys bear with me, I'm not a computer guy. My wife recieved an email message in Yahoo to upgrade to IE 8. Ever since she did this, I get error messages. I can't use Adobe reader, Can't open Itunes, Google is no longer the default engine etc. The message is "error 1606 could not access network location %Appdata%" I assume that when this update happened, it broke a bunch of links. What can I do to fix this? I was happy with IE 7 but this was an innocent mistake on her part and we just want to get this working right. Thanks.

I have the same problem when I upgraded to IE 8. what a mistake that was. It must not be compatable with Vista. I uninstalled it and I still have the same problem.

Hey there? Have you guys had any luck getting that problem fixed? I have the exact same problem, from installing IE8! I feel so stupid. I even tried system restore figuring it would take me back to before I installed it, with no luck! I've asked my brother to help me and he might be able to, or he has a couple of friends that definitely can if he can't. Hopefully I'll be able to share more news next week. Let me know if you still need help or if you can help me now!

I uninstall IE 8 but still had the problem. I had to restore my computer to factory setting. Problem solved. After it's fix. Get a flash drive and do a back up.

Do not install Internet Explorer 8 on Vista
