Vista - Cannot connect to any Microsoft website and Log in to some bank websites

Hi,
I just got my laptop reformatted and Vista installed again.
I can access all websites like google and this one but i cannot connect to any
1. Microsoft website or MSN website or log into the MSN messenger.
2. When i log into HSBC Hongkong page, it does not log in. (Surprisingly i can log on to the HSBC India website)
My windows update is working fine and has been able to download and install updates including Service Pack 1.
I would be greatful for any help. This is the second computer i am facing this problem with. I also have another laptop which has excatly the same problem after upgrading to Vista.
The date and time zone is correct and have changed the regionfrom US to Hong Kong.
I have run Spybot and Symantec Scans and the system came clean.

I have been searching for a solution on google for 2 days and tried most things recommended like cleaning DNS cache.

When i ping the DNS 4.2.2.1, i do get a response.
