Vista Laptop To XP Desktop Issues

Greetings,

I am having a nightmare of a time with networking our computers. We have two lappies, one with Vista Basic (hubby's) and one with Vista Premium (mine) and two desktops, both running Win XP SP3 We have a Linksys wireless router, connected to our cable modem. All of the computers go through the wireless for their connections.

All of the machines have had their firewalls and antivirus turned off during all of our attempts, and even totally uninstalled on one of the desktops. That desktop has had the MCPR removal tool run and is totally clean of antivirus software as I type.

The Vista Basic machine sees the desktops on the Network Map, but cannot access either of them. My machine does the same.

We have installed the LLTD hotfix and this has not cured the problem.

I was up until after 3am last night attempting all of the suggested fixes I have found for this issue so far...but nothing has worked.

Does anyone know any workaround for this issue? If more info is needed please let me know.

We are definitely tech/geek/nerds and are about to dump our money into either an XP downgrade for both lappies, or an upgrade to Vista for both desktops, neither solution is one we can afford right now.

Many Thanks, Shadowe
