Vista says WEP-key is wrong when it's not.

Sometimes I have an internett connection, sometimes I don't. When I don't Vista Ultimate x64 tells me that my WEP-key is wrong: "The security key is wrong". The security key can't be wrong though because I was just connected a few minutes ago. When I re-type the security key I might get the connection back, but not allways. I have this problem wery often with my wifi connection. I'm using a cable now :-/

How can I stay connected and avoid this problem?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Vista says WEP-key is wrong when it's not.

Wonder if this is your problem:

Q - WEP pass phrase (password) does not work.

A - Wireless hardware from different manufacturers might produce a different Hex string when using the same ASCII pass phrase.
Generate a Hex String from a pass phrase in the Router, and then copy the actual string to the Wireless card WEP entry.

Example (Linksys WRT54G), http://www.ezlan.net/example/wepstring.jpg

The Router is configured to start with the first key. Copy the 10 digits that are in Key1, and paste it into your Wireless Card WEP entry.

The info above can be found at:

Hope it works,

Thank you very much, but I got it working. I just changed the settings from WEP to WPA2 (AES) and used the same key as before. Now everything works perfectly on every computer on the nettwork :-)
