USB Wireless Adapter Question

I have to move my computer so I'll need to go wireless.

Are those Wireless USB Adapters as fast as a PCI Card?

Seems so easy to install, and if it's just as good, why not?

My PC will be 6 feet from the router, but the signal will have to go through a 4-foot wall. (standard residential wall, drywall and wood 2x4's)

6 feet and wire is out of the question?

Anyways, I think that as long as the adapter is a B or G, the speeds will be the same with a PCI or USB adapter.

My daughter has a linksys USB adapter (wireless B) and she has no problems connecting to the network. I did have to change from WEP to WPA though as wep was given me intermitent connections.

Thanks.

I could run wire, and I may. I'll have to drill through one wall that leads to a closet. Pass the cable through the closet and through another wall to the router (the router is a U-Verse hub that can't be moved)
And I may do that.....just trying to avoid holes in the walls.

Wouldn't running the cable along the lower part of the wall work ?

their both going to work them same, you will lose some speed though going from wired to wireless, but it does not matter if you run a pci card or usb, just try to stay away from dlink wireless cards have had nothing but issues with them personally.

from customers in my store heard nothing but complaints about most USB wireless adapters other than linksys. Cisco products go a long way these days
