| Vista Ultimate 64 | USB Wireless Adapter Question I have to move my computer so I'll need to go wireless. Are those Wireless USB Adapters as fast as a PCI Card? Seems so easy to install, and if it's just as good, why not? My PC will be 6 feet from the router, but the signal will have to go through a 4-foot wall. (standard residential wall, drywall and wood 2x4's) |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: USB Wireless Adapter Question 6 feet and wire is out of the question? ![]() Anyways, I think that as long as the adapter is a B or G, the speeds will be the same with a PCI or USB adapter. My daughter has a linksys USB adapter (wireless B) and she has no problems connecting to the network. I did have to change from WEP to WPA though as wep was given me intermitent connections. |

| Vista Ultimate 64 | Re: USB Wireless Adapter Question Thanks. I could run wire, and I may. I'll have to drill through one wall that leads to a closet. Pass the cable through the closet and through another wall to the router (the router is a U-Verse hub that can't be moved) And I may do that.....just trying to avoid holes in the walls. |
