Private Network Problem...

Dear All

I am a new guide here, and have a private network setting question.

I am using Vista X64 Business, and connecting to internet through HUB without IP sharing function. I set the local area connection to "Private" in "Network and Sharing Center". But it would change to "public" if I restarted the computer. Does anyone have any solution for it??

Thanks so much.

Dear nso5300

I am using ADSL with PPPOE, it means I have to dial up to get internet connection.
I have set the IP address to 192.168.0.2, and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
I have turned off IPv6, just using IPv4

Should I offer more information ??

thanks so much and really appreciate for your replying.

Dear nso5300

I set the "SL UI Notification Service" to "started" and set it to "automatic", then did the same to others services you told me.

But nothing changed. The "Local Area Connection" still resets to "Public".

Does it have any unknown problems of vista business will cause this issue??

thanks so much.

Dear nso5300.

thanks for your help, first.

I could set network location to "private", but it changed back to "public" when system restarted.

So, I could set it, but can not make it in "private" permanently.

How should I do, right now??

Dear fadedrs

thanks for your replying, first.

My dial up connection could always set to "Private" automatically, but my "Local Area Connection" could not.

Do you mean that if using dial up connection, the "Local Area Connection" would always set to "public", right??

correct for some reason your dial up connection into the network is setting it to public, not sure why but it is, not sure how to fix it, will look around and see what i can find.
