How to slow an internet connection

This may sound a bit weird ,but what I want to do is slow down the internet connection for one computer. We have a person who comes everynow then and uses our internet connection , that's ok ,but we now have a 1mb\s Broadband plan with a 5gb data cap.I was wondering if i could slow down the connection for just that one computer to something like 128kb\s because we don't want our internet used up.

Our setup for our internet goes something like this.

We have an aerial on the roof>Which connects to a modem>Which connects to a wireless router>My Laptop gets signal from the Wireless router but my dads computer is just plugged into the router.>The other person who connects to our computer uses a laptop with wireless.

Any Ideas?
Could I slow the internet without them knowing?

Thanks,
where exactly is the bandwidth manager.Because I have a CD and it has the software firmware and support utility. But that's just for setting up.

Re: How to slow an internet connection

I can't find the band width thing ,but I was wondering if you could tell me how I could change the operating frequency from 2.4ghz to 2.5ghz. Because my laptops internet connection cuts out everytime someone rings because the phone is also 2.4ghz

Re: How to slow an internet connection

To access the bandwidth manager you must log in to which you be what ever your default gateway is.
But i dont think the abndwidth manager is avavilbe for your model they said it is only on the GU model not the GC model

Re: How to slow an internet connection

Try typing the router's ip address into the URL of your browser. You should login into the router's setting page. It should be there

Re: How to slow an internet connection

i found this software called netlimter2 lite its a really cool litte software but u gotta pay for it has a 28 day evaluation period but it dosent cost that much

i also tryed to use the qos intergrated with vista but it can only be used in a domain enviroment

tried a couple of other programs but they aint for vitsa the software drivers caused a lot of problems and some of them didnt work with well with wireless adapters

i guess the only other option would be to get a linux box and install a traffic shaper on that, that would be a cool project

hit me back and tell me what you think
