internet is screwed up help!

i recently updated my window xp to vista and now my internet is not working

i just used to connect my computer straight to the router that is connected to the cable modem and it automatically connects now it doesnt connect at all.

i tried connecting it straight to the modem also! but it didnt work at all.
vista diagnosed the problem it says network drivers are missing
but there are none for cable modems or the router im currently using ( smc7004vbr)

help please!
