Lose Ability To Access Web Pages After Sleep Mode

Hi,
I purchased a HP DV4 laptop over the weekend. It has a wierd problem regarding my wireless connection. If I need to leave the computer for a time and close the lid, the laptop obviously goes into sleep mode. When returning to use the internet again and I unlock the laptop, it says that I am connected to my Netgear connection but I am unable to display any web pages unless I restart the laptop. I have tried HP tech support and they tell me that there is a problem with Vista and the sleep function and that there is no fix as yet. They told me to just disable the sleep function. Can anybody give me any ideas as to how I could fix this. I have a Broadcom wireless card. The drivers are up-to-date. The BIOS is also.

i can think of two options that should work. the first is to change your power management settings. in particular, the one that controls what closing the lid does.
the other option is to disable power management for your network card in device manager.
