| 32bit | Magicjack help needed have been trying on and off for several months to get Magicjack to work correctly on my mother-in-law's Vista machine (she's 80+ bless her) so she can call her kids anytime at basically no cost--company helpline has been of no help (in whatever country they are located) because I don't think they understand the problem, especially after uninstalling, re-installing, updating several times per their instructions...basically what happens is that when the magicjack is plugged in at startup, it takes forever to startup, if at all...it seems as though it gets into some kind of loop that never ends...if you do not have it plugged in at startup, but plug it in after it is completely startup up and loaded, it will recognize it, and you are good to go; at first we thought it might have been a problem with the USB ports, so we purchased a powered USB port, but it made absolutely no difference--for obvious reasons it is not practical to continue to unplug and plug it back in each time....once or twice it did load OK at the beginning, and I noticed that when it did that, the magicjack did not light up (as if being located) until AFTER startup, and that now, when it is plugged in at startup and fails to load, the magicjack lights up immediately when you turn the machine on to start it up....BTW, I do have another Magicjack on my own home computer running on XP Professional 5.1 that works just fine...any suggestions? |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Magicjack help needed encoredude: As a temporary work-around you might consider a USB A/B switch. USB A/B Switch with 5.91-Ft. USB Cables - RadioShack.com Using a push-button to switch from not-plugged-in to plugged in lead after booting to Desktop would be easier than plugging and unplugging the cord. | Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: Magicjack help needed I had a problem with mine and Vista as well and I also got it to work but at intermittently so I did the next best thing and I installed it to my laptop that uses XP... no more problems. I think it has something to do with the admin rights and the IPV6 thingy. My suggestion? nuke Vista and install XP or try installing the MJ with Higher rights (right click on the executable and "Run as Administrator", schedule a Task so it elevates itself at login or disable IPV6. Good Luck |
