Vista - Lose internet when open utorrent etc

Hi,

I am finding my internet is slow, I open utorrent or vuse or a torrent program that uses bandwidth and I lose all internet browsing, msn messenger but skype stays online and the torrents download at a slower rate but still download.... as soon as i close any bandwidth sucking program the internet comes back but still a slower speed. i have adsl2+ so speed shouldnt be an issue

Anyone seen a issue like this?? I thought it may have been my network card so I bought another one but still same issue...

Have you checked to see if your ISP is throttling torrent downloads ?, as most file share sites use the torrent system.
Also, does it happen when downloading non torrent file's ?.
Take a look and post your results.

adsl2+ is around 2mb down and 0.5 up. Some torrents can use that much easily unless you throttle them to use less. If you want to browse and dl a torrent on ~2 mb there are apps that will give each app whatever you want. One app called netlimiter will do that

nah its not a ISP thing cause i plug my laptop in and it is fine, full spoeed internet even while torrent downloading on the laptop.

On the main PC when downloading it will be slow, like 50kbps instead of the normal 1mps...even torrents will dl at 800kbps somtimes...so it is isolated to tthe main PC.

ok I have put it to the fact it is not utorrent...as you can see below my general internet browsing is slow and I think u torrent and vuse just chew up whatever bandwidth is left... its downloading webpages at 26kbps..dismal....it just suddenly slowed...dont know if it had somthing to do with my netgear modem/router but it happened not long after i installed it

I also tried a different modem today..no difference in speed so I think there may be a tweak gone bad or a virus...done all the searches in the world but no result.

I think I may have to format.

Play with fire (torrents) and get burned.

areally?? ive used torrents for 7 years...first issue...oh and I beleive it is NOT torrent related...but thanks for your input
