| Vista Home Premium | Internet won't connect, hard to explain! Bare with me, I am a bit computer illiterate. . . I use a linksys router (I don't exactly know what type/version, but I doubt that matters when I have connected to older models, I believe). However, the only reason why my internet will not connect seems to be that I have encrypted my router with a WEP key! I say this because I can connect to unsecured routers just fine. I have tried connecting manually, and it will accept the WEP key I type in (well, it doesn't tell me I'm wrong). . . But once I finish typing in the WEP and checking the two option boxes (start this connection automatically, connect even if the network is not broadcasting) and try and connect (to the existing network), it says I cannot connect. I am just wondering if it's something simple. . . Making a new WEP key, perhaps? I really have no clue and I would like to figure this out soon. |

| Vista Home Premium 64-bit | Re: Internet won't connect, hard to explain! Why not disable the program ur using, log in to ur router via ip. then inputting ur Hex key instead of a wep phrase and see if u can connect then! I was having a problem similar to that! and thats how I fixxed it. |

| Vista Home Premium | Krazyl, do you care to explain in detail a bit more? I have no clue what a hex key is (or where to find it), and where to disable/turn back on the wireless connection! |

| Vista Home Premium 64-bit | Does windows handle ur wireless connections??? And u have to log into ur router with the ip for ur router. since its a linksys the default user name is blank and pw is Admin. Ip is 192.168.1.1 User: Pw: Admin So to log into ur router in your browser put " http://192.168.1.1 " then its gunna ask for a user name and pw. Thats when you use those. Once logged in there, your gunna see a part for security go to there and thats where you will find your hex key. If you need any more help, be sure to ask for it. |
