Losing the World on Network Connections

Hello,

Vista displays the blue world on network connections shown in the notification area. The world will dissapear but I still have internet and email. When the world disappears, going to network and sharing center you will find an X between workgroup/domain and the internet. Clicking the X will launch MS network diagnostics which will report "no problem found". Thinking it is an issue with an older router and Vista network stack, replaced the router with a Netgear that was fully updated from the factory. All was well for a couple weeks then the world disappeared. Made sure WiFi was turned off and only using ethernet. Reboot will fix the issue but for only a short period of time. Today the world was lost and a reboot did nothing to fix the issue. Also I did NOT have internet or email. Needed to shut down for a bit. Restart did not show world but did have internet. Other pc - Win XP - not having any difficulty. Internet provided by Wild Blue satellite which runs through Netgear router which has DHCP services running.

Thank you
