Vista Dialer dials area code incorrectly

I have 2 vista computers, Home edition 32 and 64, and the dialers do not seem to work correctly. I have set my location with my area code, 305, and when I try to dial a number, say 305-xxx-xxxx, the computer dials 1-3-xxx=xxxx. If I dial another area code, say 954-xxx-xxxx, the computer dials 1-9-xxx-xxxx. It always takes the number, adds the "1" prefix, and only the first number of the area code.

Anyone knows how to solve this?

Yep

JC they 1,9, ... is easy there is a check box that says dial this to get an outside line. the 1,area code is also probably in the same place. I would look for prefix numbers to dial, and numbers to get outside, etc

Good luck and let us know if it doesn't work

I have a similar problem with dialing long distance on a calling card. Dialing 512-555-1234 would dial as <CC access number> 5 555-1234# <CC#>.

Adding the country code of 1 did not fix the problem. However adding +1 and putting parenthesis around the area code gave me the correct dialing sequence, e.g. +1 (512) 555-1234 will dial <CC access number> 512 555 1234# <CC num>.

Now, I do I get more than 8 speed dial numbers?
