FIX for slow connecting to wireless network

i'm making this post only to help others that may run into the problem. hopefully google will pick this up too.

i have experienced a problem only in vista. my wireless network would work perfect, then i'd make a change to it (like its wireless security settings), and then it would not connect at all or a lot slower than it used to. even after rebooting it would take a while to connect with all the settings correct. i've also noticed windows XP does not have this problem at all.

eventually i found a solution to this problem. if you're going to make a change to your wireless connection, first delete your wireless network adapter in device manager. reboot and windows should reinstall your wireless adapter. be sure to have your drivers ready in case you're not using a windows driver. also make sure you saved any network settings that you will need to re-enter.

i have done this twice now and it always makes my wireless connection start up right away. i think deleting the adapter completely wipes out the old wireless settings that might confuse vista and make it slow to connect.
