Windows photo gallery

When I double click on a jpg file in Explore it comes up in Windows Photo Gallery - which is what I want.

But when I double click on a gif file it always opens Windows Photo Gallery in thumbnail view and not even in the directory I'm using.

How can I change it so that it just shows me the gif image I've clicked? There don't seem to be any settings to change - and why does it do one thing for jpg's and another for gifs?

I don't want to change file associations to another application as it's very quick for viewing files full screen and I can then subsequently open them easily in Photoshop or whatever if I need to.

Re: Windows photo gallery

Change the .gif file association to Internet Explorer. That's where they should be displayed. It will show the animation.
