Vista - my gf laptop stays connected while in standby mode

idk how she is doing it but when she is on face book and myspace and myspace im and stuff and she minimizes the pages and puts her laptop in to stand by mode thru her wireless it says she is still online and active can and one tell me how she did this she has a hp pavilion laptop windows vista home premium 64 bit

her laptop is not on stand by, it is in hibernate, it shuts down non essential systems and goes into a state of hibernation, since she is still using the wireless connection, this is not shut down and thusly is still connected

well she said its in standby mode and that the blue lights do blink and taht indicates that it is standby mode so idk

if she presses the power button to enter the mode, then she is putting the laptop to sleep, if she presses it again, does it restore her desktop to how it was before she pressed the button (programs and webpages are restored?)

no she enters the menu and them clicks sleep and i asked her if she is online and she told me her pc is in sleep mode and i can see her on facebook and myspace im and stuff

its completely normal, sleep is shutting down non essential hardware and isnt a problem, if she is worried about being online, i can only suggest that she closes the open browser windows so the laptop can shut down the network adaptor as it wont be in use when the browser is not open

no its not her thats worryed its me wondering why its doing that b/c i heard its impossable to keep the pc online in sleep mode. but the net does stay on when the pc is in sleep mode when a browser is minimized right

nah, its plausible, it makes sense, my girlfriend has her laptop on sleep when shes on msn and shes online all the time lol

lol makes me wonder would a custom build pc do that or does it only work with laptops and makes me also wonder if it only does that with vista and/or with other pc with xp home and pro

my network connection comes up with a green light when its connected on port 1 of my router, it stays green when put to sleep, when i turn my computer off the port light turns yellow, so yes
