Vista - help with solution of 64 bit internet problems

I have alot of problems with my internet connection
My computer says that Im connected but
either the connection has timed out, web page has expired and
internet cannot display web page etc. you name it
this happens when Im trying to get in
and have not had time to time out??? ore expire???
this is a new computer??? is there a setting or something that needs turned
off? I have searched forever for a solution

type ipconfig /all
See if you are being assigned an ip address.
If yes, try to ping a number address (e.g., ping 128.163.1.6)
If that works, try an alpha address (ping Yahoo!)

Im having the same issues as the person that posted this with my 64 bit system and I saw your response but I dont understand it. Where do this I type this information or look for the solution.

start>search>type cmd>ipconfig /all>

Is there a number assigned to you like 192.168.1.1?

in the command window type ping yahoo.com and note the results.

I went to command prompt and put in ipconfig /all> and it said the syntax of the command is incorrect.

from cmd type ipconfig /all

ok...I was able to do the comand and it says ip routing enabled: no ...it has a lot of # put none that start with 192 etc..Im not sure were to look.. and I cant paste what it has.????

That tells me that you have connectivity, who your ISP is, you are getting an IP, rtv

All good things.
