Vista laptop connectivity issues

I've been reading through hundreds of posts for the past week hoping that a post about Vista connectivity issues would actually apply to me but no luck so here is my post hoping someone can help.

My set up:
FIOS issued Actiontec MI424WR running WPA2 security
2 XP Pro SP3 desktops
2 XP Home SP3 laptops

Now, the Vista Home Premium x64 laptop will connect just fine ONLY after rebooting the router. Everything works great, no problems, life is good. After the laptop sleeps or is reboot the connect varies. Sometimes it connects to the router but cannot find the home network I've setup. Other times it just has limited connectivity, other times no connectivity. Now I've messed with every possible option in the network section that I can find on the web (only to return to the default now) but it is way too annoying to keep rebooting the router when others are doing work.

Does anyone have any pointers at all? Please keep in mind that I'm no beginner with computers, not saying I'm B Gates but can get around okay, so I've tried everything without firewalls, etc that can get in the way. This is my first experience with Vista and an 64-bit OS, so any particulars are these two are new to me. And I must say like others I am not enjoying my Vista experience. I could get along fine with it if it weren't for these connection issues though.

If it help, my Vista laptop:
Asus G50V-A2
Intel Duo T9400 2.53GHz
4GB RAM
Vista Home Premium 64bit

Someone please help!
