| Vista Ultimate x64 | unknown download I am on Vista Ultimate 32 bit, puzzled by unknown download - I am getting about 100 MB of download each day and know nothing about this, where it is coming from, what it is. I have a lot of high-end software and Vista is set to auto-update, but 100MB download each day seems just strange! Any ideas what this could be or how to find out? Thanks in advance Adam Last edited by addon; 09-08-2009 at 03:16 PM.. Reason: typo |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: unknown download 100MB in a day seems relatively small to me, I easily rack up well over that in browsing websites alone! |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: unknown download If you have Anti Virus installed as you say you do, then I suspect it runs an update to grab the latest signatures from the web. That will also add to your download count. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: unknown download But my plan also includes 54 MB from 2.00am to 12 noon, so I should just make use of that period each day. Thanks for the comments. Adam |

| Vista Ultimate 64-bit | Re: unknown download P2P programs dont help this, do you even browse the web during the day??? If not, 100mb does seem excessive for auto updates. is it a new pc? sometimes new pc's update themselves and their software more. If you dont have an antivirus, install one. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: unknown download It might be worth looking to see if you can change the update schedule as it may potentially check for updates multiple times a day. If you do manage to change it keep an eye on it to ensure it continues to update correctly. You may find the following utility useful: ==- Readerror -== - Downloads It's a tiny application that sits in the notification area and provides download and upload stats which makes it very easy to see how much you're using. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: unknown download Thanks DC187 - I have changed the schedule of a lot of stuff and have Net Gear doing a nice job for me on a 30 day trial ... I'll have a look at the utility you suggest. Thanks anyway. Adam |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: unknown download Not a new PC - 3 or 4 years old. I do browse the Web quite a lot but this download keeps chugging away while I am asleep! It is a nuisance as I am a pensioner and can't afford a bigger plan and 100 MB x 30 days = 1/2 my allowance! Yes, I have an anti-virus, avast! Antivirus. Thanks Adam |
