Late Internet Connection at boot

Hi All
I wonder if anyone can help me on this, I have Vista Ultimate x32 all well apart from when I boot the machine the internet connection starts up really late good 5min after boot. The only security I have is AVG free addition and I have a router where this PC is connected through weir.
Any thoughts on this please, many thanks

I don't really have an answer but in some ways it's a good thing that you aren't connecting until after your other security software is in place.

You want the protection of the anti-virus and anti-spy/malware programs in place before connecting to the Internet.

How many programs do you have starting when you first boot up, if you have unnecessary things starting that can slow things down a bit.

Those are my thoughts with regards your problem maybe some of the experts have other ideas

Could you tell us about the wifi/nic and the network setup. It really shouldn't take 5 minutes to establish a connection

Thanks for your reply, there is one thing I forgot to mention it was all fine till I installed dreamweaver cs4. This pc is the only mechine that is physically connected to router.
