Won't detect a internet connection even when there is.

For the last week or 2, with the exception of Windows Updates, I can't install or update almost any other program. I have been trying to update , Ad-Aware, no luck. So i uninstalled that and downloaded AVG, but that wouldn't install either, Same thing happened when i tried with Avast. My internet seems awful slow as well.

you have some problems. Try registry mechanic from PC tools but since you really can't install any software I would suggest buying a new hard drive. Along with an usb hard drive adapter from cool drives SATA and IDE Hard Drive & Optical Drive USB Adapter Kit COMBO . When you put the new hard drive in and install your OS make sure you have a good protection for it. After you have installed at the minimum, the anti virus, then hook up the adapter and you should be able to scan it and get rid of the viruses and things. if you feel comfortable with the old drive being cleaned you can switch back to it but I would just use the new one and install all your old stuff on it now that you have up to date anti virus and other protection on it. PC tools has some good stuff but it will cost you about 60 bucks for it all, and a HD will cost you about 100 or so from New Egg. So you will have some expense. I would also suggest buying a WD "MY Book" for backing up your stuff on site or you can go with one of the online back places. Anyhow I hope I have given you some options and help.

I am looking for some help in trying to connect my internet. I am connected using wireless but I would like to connect my pc using a wireless router. I have DSL and I have run the ethernet cable from the wireless router to my pc but it won't connect. Do I have to disconnect or delete my wireless. I have disable it but it still will not connect. I hope someone can help.

Does the wireless router have an ADSL modem built in or do you plug the modem into the router? Can you see other pc's on your network?

2. Modem manufacturer
3. Router manufacturer
