| Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2 | Suggestions on a New Wireless Router? Hey guys, I am considering upgrading to a new wireless router soon. I just want to know what would be the best router to buy... I obviously want as much transfer rate as I can get for the price. Any suggestions? |

| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: Suggestions on a New Wireless Router? your new router purchase will be based on what you current PC/laptop throughput is and what speed your isp is. If your laptop/PC is 10/100 it is not necessary to purchase a wired/wireless gigbit router(1000), you will be just wasting your money. Find your specs of your PC/laptop and check what your connection rating is, that will give you what type of router to start looking at then start looking at all the bells and whistles you might need or want. |

| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: Suggestions on a New Wireless Router? The answer to your questionis no.The number of PC/laptops connections is solely based on the type of connection you want. A wired set up, the routers themselves are limited to usually 4 or 8 ports. You could add a switch to increase that number. A wireless set up is infinite but limited to the bandwidth (speed). I have both set up on my home network. I have a wired network for all my desktops (3) and a wireless access point, which is a wireless router attached to the wired network for all my laptops (2). As for a brand, I prefer Linksys and I use a Linksys BEFSE41 wired router inconjuction with a Linksys wireless WRTG54GL router as my access point. They are priced at $50 each. |
