Wireless Connection but no internet access...

I have been on the phone collectively for 6 hours with AT&T as well as had a technician out here to look at this problem. I have a new wireless router box.

The whole At&T system went down briefly (tvs and all). When it booted back up my computer wouldn't recognize the wireless network.

After getting a new box, it will now recognize the wireless network in my home. It says I am connected to the network with excellent strength but I still cannot get online.

My desktop works fine and I plugged the ethernet cable into my computer and it still won't get online being hardwired to the router.

My firewalls are turned off.

I have run an ipconfig with the following message:

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address . : 169.254.41.21
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . :

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection*6:
Media State . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix. :

(And this last one "Tunnel adapter Local Area Connections repeats using the numbers 7, 12, and 13 with the same message)

Someone suggested I run an sfc/scnnow

The following message came up:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

What do I do now? And are there any other suggestions?

Of course my warranty for this computer ran out last month and I now can not get anyone to help. The Toshiba line is of no help unless you are a complete computer-idiot. Any help would be splendid! Thanks!

I think its two problems. first the listed IP tells me you are not connected to the router/modem. the other problem is the sfc results.

Fixing the SFC files may fix the connectivity. do you have a backup to restore from?

thanks, obviously Im a cat person<g>

lets try pinging your router/ modem. Is it a router, or modem?

start>search>type cmd>in window type ipconfig /all, enter. using the snipping tool built into vista, make a screenshot of the ressults and upload it to us

there is one thing to try that might get you working now.
in search type cmd>ipconfig /flushdns, enter
then type ipconfig /renew
reboot and try it

let us know the results
