| vista home premium 64 bit | finding program to open email husband just bought new DELL xps desktop. someone sent us email.the download is titled Authority...doc when it says "do you want to save file or find program to open it" i dont know what to do. not used to this sort of thing. if i select "find program" it takes me to FILE ASSOCIATION page and lists 4 programs : microsoft word view 2003,or microsoft word etc. i dont know what they mean either. which one should i click on? what happens then? do i download it? thankyou |

In your case the extension is "DOC". doc represents a document file and cna be opened by several programs. Its usual opener (called an application) is microsoft word. You do need to download it if you want to save it which I suspect you would. save it in a place where you can find it.\ One other thing about email. be sure you have a working anti virus application to make sure you dont catch something in an email.
