User-Password

Hello World.

I'm running a local printer on my Vista System which I want to share over my local network.

If I connect from a Windows XP System to Vista with the Windows Explorer I'm allways asked to enter my user name and password.
If I do so I can connect to the printer over the network.
If I don't enter the user name and password I'm naturally refused to access the printer.

So the question is: How can I give the Windows XP System permanent access to the Vista system and its printer without entering the user name and password manually every time?

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this problem.
Thanks for your help!

So the question is: How can I give the Windows XP System permanent access to the Vista system and its printer without entering the user name and password manually every time?

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this problem.

The two computers have entirely disjoint accounts databases, so naturally incoming access attempts must first be made to provide the credentials of one of the known (local) accounts.

The "simple" answer is to create accounts with identical username/password combinations on both machines. That way the incoming request always appears to match a known local account.

You could just simply remove the password.

You could just simply remove the password.

Aside from the obvious security implications, that also won't work unless the same password-less account name exists on both machines and is used to log on to the box requesting access. In other words, both machines would need an account called "bob", in both instances the password would have to be blank, and the "bob" user would need to be logged on to the requestor machine in order to have access.

The effect is the same. You just jump through some extra hoops to blankenfy the account passwords.
