Vista - wifi downloads fail

Hi, i have this HP compaq presario CQ60 and any time i try to download anything over a few KB, the download fails. This happens during all updates, winupdates,antivirus updates, network file transfers ect.. Basically any downloads. I have no problem when using a LAN connection its only wifi when i have the problem. I have attemted forum searches on microsofts website to no avail , google, bing ect have nothing even close to the results im looking for, all my drivers are up to date.

Sounds like a connectivity problem. If you can download small files and not large ones, its connectivity or a timeout.

Your wifi connection could be intermittent, or someone in your neighborhood is exceeding the download limit for wifi.

If intermittent, it works for long enough to download small files, then fails during a large file download.

Who is your ISP for your connection ? You might call them and ask. Of course, they may not know if there is a limit or not. Probably depends on who you get when your call reaches them.

the wifi connection is with my router and laptop, it works fine when wired thru the LAN. I have charter cable for my isp and that is split off from our tv cable box to a modem then to my wireless router, belkin with 3 ethernet ports. Dont know if thats any help. I didnt always have the wifi issue, its onlky been about a month and a half so maybe its due to an update?

If it worked before and doesn't now, and you didn't change anything, then your ISP did something.

woul;dnt ya know, i replaced my old belkin wireless router with a new dlink and all is well again thank for the suggestions, ill keep them in mind if i have a problem again
