How to Use HyperTerminal in Vista(Laptop)

I want to connect a Micro Controller based board to my Laptop( Laptop use Vista- 32Bit). Micro Control board provides only serail communication(COM) throgu Hyper Terminal for any PC interface.
Problem is my laptop does not have COM port.
1.) So Can I use any USB to Serial converter to have serial interface with Control board ?
2.) Will this USB to Serial converter work for Vista ?
2.) If so , there is no " Hyper Terminal Window "in Vista .How can I send and recieve data from Control board. ?
Anybody Please help me.
