Vista - Does a proxy server really make you anonymous?

I was curious about proxy severs because i recently got a letter from my ISP saying that i was tracked downloading movies with bit torrent. it wasnt the ISP who tracked me. it was a company called BayTSP. so naturally i would like not to be tracked.

The way the letter from the ISP read it made it sound like they were not happy that I was tracked either, they simply said you are probably using a router, check to see if it has a password.

Do proxy servers work. Yes and no. If you just want no-one to be able to track you then probably yes. chose a good one. the no of it is if the FBI wants you for something they will be there and have everything you have ever done in under an hour.

so its your call. btw there are also things called anonymizers. used in conjuction with a proxy server makes it more diffeicult for them to be nosey
