"Cannot connect to DNS Server" + Other Net Problems

Hey guys, having a few problems with my internet connection. I'm far from an expert so you'll have to bear with me.

I only get this problem on two wireless networks, either the one at my home, or the one in my University house. I get intermittent internet, it cuts out, sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes an hour, and the only way to get it back is by resetting the router, and running a diagnose + repair from Network and Sharing Centre and then by Resetting the Wireless Router, which doesn't always fix the problem.

Sometimes I get a "Windows cannot connect to DNS Server" error, and sometimes it just fixes itself.

After a few quick searches, I've tried resetting WINSOCK entries to installation defaults (netsh winsock reset catalog) and reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults (netsh int ip reset reset.log) but this doesn't seem to have worked.

Here is the results of an iconfig/all on my system:

C:\Users\Matt>ipconfig/all

Wonderful, wonderful.

Cheers for all the help guys.

As my esteemed collegue Archie said its the IPv6. known to cause random drops, slowdowns, slow download speeds, etc. You probably only need it if you are running homegroup.

Check with the university first to be sure. If you dont need it change to workgroup, disable it and it will work.

I do about 30 of these a week and 50% are from IPv6.

Hope this helps

Ken J

Hey guys, I've tried disabling IPv6 and I'm still getting the same problem, except when the internet cuts out, when I do a diagnose+repair, it just simply says "Windows Could Not Find a Problem" and just resetting the router fixes it. Another interesting thing though, sometimes when I'm downloading via a Torrent program, the download will continue even though I cannot browse the web... =/
