Network connection timed out

Hello,

I registered here in Vista forums just to post this message, hope this help people having problems with iTunes and having the same problem message as me: iTunes Connection Timed Out".

The problem started yesterday, I read hours about the problem on the net, I turned off the router, reboot the computer, turn firewall on and off, I tried all what I have read, I can't list them all here. I even tried to re-download iTunes etc.. Nothing changed, I still have the same problem, could not connect to iTunes, and if connected it is slow, very slow, and most of the times it failed to connect saying the same message "Connection Timed Out".

At the end, I've done some changes in my operating system Vista, and the problem has been solved completely:

1- In control panel I clicked security
2- In firewall, I clicked on allow a program through windows firewall, it took me to Windows firewall settings
3-I clicked on advanced
4-I removed the check box on all Network connection

Finally my problem is solved, iTunes connect normally to store without the annoying error message.

Hope this help

Good Luck

Hi

I'm not too knowledgable about computers so bear with me. I've been having the same problem as described above: I can access the store on iTunes but when I try to purchase anything I get an error message saying 'network connection timed out.'

-iTunes is on the exemption list on windows firewall (the only 1 i'm using) and i've tried disabling it as suggested above to no effect.

-the first hit on google for this problem suggests checking i've the most updated versions of IE and iTunes, allowing iTunes through the firewall and trying at different times of day, all of which haven't solved the problem.

-i have a wireless router and i've tried turning that off and on. again, no luck.

This is the first time i've used an apple product, it's actually an xmas present and i wantd to d/l all his CDs onto it for him in advance. now i've spent 5 hours sorting that out after getting to grips with 'tagging' (all the albums were various artists and appeared as seperate albums for every song), i'm wary of re-installing iTunes and would prefer to leave this as a last resort.

can anyone suggest anything else i haven't yet tried? and because i may be being really dumb, can anyone tell me if when I re-install iTunes I'll lose what was in my library?

thanks
