Wireless internet issues

Yesterday night, my internet provider (Shaw) has some technical issues with their internet that were resolved today. Since then I haven't been able to access the internet on my laptop (Dell Inspiron.)
At the moment I'm on another computer in my house connected through a D-Link wireless router.

I've tried everything I've been able to find to try to get the wireless internet back on my laptop, went through the diagnose and repair about a million times, rebooting, disabling firewalls, doing that DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag in the registry, ip config in the command screen, and of course simply unplugging the modem and router for 10 seconds then plugging it back in. None of this seens to work.

If anyone can help me with this problem I'd appreciate it very much.

Are you connected to the wireless router now?
- if you are, try to ping it.
- open up a command prompt and type ping 192.168.0.1 or substitute 0 for 1
- if it pings and results are 4 sent and 0 recieved fail then your not talking to the router
- if it pings and you send 4 and get 4 back, the laptop is talking

If you are talking to the router then:
- run this command and post the results
- netsh wlan show drivers
- if the drivers are outdated you may not be able to connect
- if it worked before but not now, what has changed since that time?

There was a windows update, but I used system restore to go back a day or two.

Whats the model of this laptop?

Please go into the network and sharing center from the control panel > right click on the wireless connection your trying to use > choose properties > accept the UAC > then a box should open up with a white area listing different things > find Internet Protocol IPv6 (TCP / IP) > high light it > disable it.

Then open a command prompt and type ipconfig /renew
- post the results from that

from the command prompt type > start ncpa.cpl > what do you see? Is anything in 'bridge' mode?

Just verified that the driver you are using is the most up to date one available...

The one that says bridged, right click and select unbridge or something along those lines. Unless you specifically set it to bridge for a reason, bridges disable routing functions...

Okay, now lets ipconfig /renew

from there someone else is going to need to chime in as thats my knowledge limitation.

The pings are the same as before.

Yeah it seems there is more than just a network issue. Hopefully someone else can chime in here and help you out. I'm sorry I can't fully resolve your issue. I know it can be frustrating.
