Alt F4 Not Functioning

Wondering if anyone can help me with this simple problem. Just received my new laptop today and the alt F4 combination no longer closes a particular window any more. F4 by itself, Alt F4, and Ctrl F4 just affect the brightness.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like its a function key, either way my lappy is as well. Hmm, try a different 'Alt' key.
