My daughter tried to remove Norton's to put on another security and now I cannot access the internet with Explorer. I am connected but cannot get on. The response when I click on Explorer icon is that it cannot access the web page.
Has anyone experienced this? I had Comcast come out and they tried to restore system to day before this happened and it didn't work.
THANK YOU for your help!

Hi,

Is this Windows Explorer or is this Internet Explorer? Is there a specific error you get or is it just that the webpage cannot be displayed? Try downloading Firefox and seeing if that works. In the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen, two icons in (usually) what is the symbol. Is it two green computer screens and a globe or a two black computer screens and a red X. If you can supply us with this information, we may be able to solve your problem. What security do you have on now?

Hope I can eventually fix your problem,

Richard

Hi,

Sorry, I did not make myself very clear. Which icon I wanted to see the image of was the one in the taskbar at the VERY bottom right of the screen. I have included an attached screenshot of this icon and where it is. Sorry about that. I will continue to think about what the problem is and report back tomorrow at the latest.

Hope I can help you fix this problem,

Since you've removed Norton that has an effect on Winsock. You might need to reset that. To do this, simple go to your Start Menu>Type "CMD" in Start Search (without the quotes) When you see the results - RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR>Continue>Once you've got it open type in 'NETSH WINSOCK RESET" without the quotes and it will tell you whether it was sucessful. Afterwards, restart your system and see if that has an effect on it. Good lucK!

You can also try a System Restore if this does not work, back to before Norton was removed and then use the Norton Removal tool as suggested by the previous poster.

Good Luck :)
