Can no longer go online-please help!

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC(32-bit OS). About two weeks ago, I was online when my power went out and my laptop shut down(no battery). It powered back up afterward with no problem but a few hours later when I tried, it would not go online. It cannot find any networks in my area. The message I get is "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured." It suggests I install wireless networking hardware and verify the correct drivers are loaded. When I click that(Troubleshoot Driver Problems), it tells me to update the driver through Windows Updates. However when I do that, I'm told that I'm already running the most up to date driver.

The problem is not with my router/ISP. My husband's laptops are online with no issues. I'm not the most technologically savvy person so this is beyond my expertise. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi dagomama:
Try restoring your OS to a date before this problem appeared.
Click Start menu then type "System Restore" in the search box. Open "System Restore"- it usually take sometime- then choose a restore point...
Note: system restore does not affect personal files, such as e‑mail, documents, or photos.

Can you connect with an erthernet cable?

go to device manager and see if the wireless card is listed.

start > right click "computer" > choose "properties" > click on device manager(left hand side & click OK when prompt by UAC)
once in device manager click on the + sign next to "network adapters" is there a red or yellow sign?

If yes ...right click and choose
uninstall" ...reboot and windows will reinstall automatically.....good luck

Well...that didn't work either. Looks like it reinstalled but I still get the yellow triangle. Clicking on it, I get this message..."This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.(Code 31)"

*sigh*

try right clicking it again and see if it will "update drive software"

what is the make of the wireless network adapter?

can you connect with a cable?

When I try to update, it tells me that Windows has determined the driver software is up to date. The make...Windows ISATAP Adapter #18, I guess that's it. I'm not sure if it will connect with a cable. Until my husband gets home, I can't try that since I don't have a cable. He's bringing one.

nothing as simple as reinstalling your wireless adapter's driver.
HP Pavillion laptops(in general, announced personally by HP)have been so buggy that with the slightest problematics something screws up (not sure if screw up is a curse word, if it is, please excuse me)
if that doesn't work out, feel free to play with the switch (turn off and on) resetting it all the time used to work on my hp pavillion :P
and last but not least, the famous system restore!
Good luck and hope this helps, even if it's a little bit.
