Network Connections..."IDENTYFING"

I'm on a Dell Laptop that has been working fine up until last week when I removed it from my house and "regular network" and took it with me to travel. Basically I CAN connect to a network but CANNOT connect to the internet...does anyone have any ideas?

The network will say CONNECTED

Then it will get stuck IDENTYFING

Which results in LOCAL ONLY with LIMITED or NO INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

When I try all the recommended troubleshooting tips for windows (i.e. restart DHCP, renew ip, etc...) nothing fixes the problem

I've been doing research...and found out that my DHCP Client is not running and I get ERROR 1075 which says it cannot start.

At this point I'm kind of blurry because everything is a little above my level of computer literacy but I have found out that my old static ip info works. Apparently if I use the old ip/subnet/default info and manually enter it in the ipv4 properties instead of "automatically obtain" then the internet connection works. But of course this only works when I'm home with my home network which is wireless. So if you have any advice on how to get the DHCP client working and be able to connect to networks outside of my home that would be very helpful

Sincerely,

Confused...

At home, are you on a router? If so, and if your router works like most, the DHCP server should reside on the router itself and the client on your notebook.

Are you saying the DHCP client on your notebook is throwing errors?
