System says I am connected to internet, but cannot browse the web

I'm sure other people have had this problem, and I have viewed their threads and tried everything that was listed that I could find, but to no avail.

I have a HP Pavilion running Windows Vista Home Premium. I try to connect to the internet, but whenever I try to browse it cannot display the webpage I am trying to load. And here's the kicker, the darn thing says I am connected, with full bars even.

As far as I can tell, I have no out of date drivers, I checked and double checked to make sure.

I have tried resetting the TCP/IP and winsock settings/files using the commands I found in a thread on this forum, but it didn't work. I tried using ipconfig described in another thread, and even though I can successfully ping sites (three different ones I might add), the release/renew commands didn't resolve it. I even tried a system restore to rollback updates, still didn't work.

Most of what I found in these forums I have tried, but I cannot seem to establish internet connection even though it says I am connected.

It has yet to be updated to Service Pack 2, but I'm pretty sure that's not what's causing the problem, but it's a possibility. I would try to copy and paste the results of ipconfig /all, but it seems like you can't do that with a DOS window as well as you can with any normal text window.

I have exhausted my research capabilities to a good degree and am in need of assistance.

I'm answering threads because this calculus class is boring right now so when I get home I'll be better equipped to help you, but for the meantime:
1) what kind of web browser are you using to try accessing the Web?
2) have you tried accessing another Web-page besides that one page?
3) have you tried using another browser, or uninstalling and reinstalling your favourite one?

You can copy and paste out of a command prompt. But you have to click on the top left corner of the window where the little black box is and choose properties. The first window that opens put a check box in "Quick Edit mode" then you can high everything and right click copy.

Once we get that information we can see what is going on. What type of security is the wireless connection using as of now?

Did you assign it an IP address or is it automatic?

1) It was IE at first, then Firefox. Both are encountering the same problem.
2) I've tried at least three to four different webpages, but they say it cannot be displayed.
3) Does that actually work?

Everything is automatic for the TCP/IP settings of both the LAN and Wireless network, and the router is working fine as far as I can tell.

I just went with an OS Reload recently and its working fine now... that was a huge mystery though. Thanks anyway, the feedback was most appreciative.

Well that was the most extreme possible solution... It could have been solved it just would have taken some time. In either case I'm glad your up and running again :)
