Hi folks,

5 PCs:-
2 Windows Vista
2 Windows XP
1 Windows 7

What will be the simple setup for sharing a printer amongst them? Do I need a printer server to do the job?

TIA

I would think the variation in operating system versions would require a printer server.

Just a thought though.

Hi Americano,

Thanks for your advice.

The solutions laid before me are either one of the follows;

1)
- Use the USB printer (existing)
- Get an old PC as server sharing the printer out via router
They must run round the clock

2)
- Use the USB printer
- Purchase a printer server sharing the USB printer out
They must run round the clock

3)
- Purchase an Ethernet printer sharing it via router
If the said printer has standby mode, it'll switch on when there is an incoming signal. The Ethernet printer also needs switched on round the clock but on standby mode.

I'm in anticipation to look for whether there are alternative solution?
