Internet Disconnects on Video

Hi there,
I have an Advent 9515 laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2. I connect wirelessly to my router downstairs and all is fine for standard web surfing. The problem arises when I use services such as YouTube and Spotify, or perform a large download. The PC will just stop being connected to the router and the little yellow exclamation mark appears over my networking icon stating limited connectivity. The standard Windows Network Diagnostics tools are useless, telling me to move to another location and turn the router off and on again.
Using device manager I attempt to disable the Wireless Card in order to enable it again, hopefully refreshing it, but this just causes the computer to go unresponsive and requires a reboot.
Also, if I do not do anything to try and solve the problem, when I shut down, Windows says "shutting down" forever and I have to force it. Is there any way to solve this problem I have to put up with?
Also, this happens to no other PC's connecting to the same router

Cheers
Maccaquacker ;)

Hi, please can you post your make and model of wireless router and whether it is broadcasting in 'G' or 'N'.

Have you made sure your WLAN Adapter driver is up to date?

How many bars of signal do you get?

Its a BELKIN G+ MIMO router, think its this model :

Belkin F5D9230-4 Wireless G/MIMO Router

No updates for my adapter and it is the original that came with the PC and has never been replaced.
Generally I get full signal ("Excellent") or "Very Good"

Try making sure your router firmware is up to date. Have a look at Belkin : Support : F5D9230-4 Wireless G Plus MIMO Router - Firmware Update and follow what it says.

Also please make sure that Vista is up to date (although I'm sure it is).

Please also make sure your wireless card is not using the Windows Generic Driver and is using the Realtek driver (which can be downloaded from http://support.thetechguys.com:80/layout.aspx?ID={04683eea-08d7-4639-9dc9-f69c8a6622f5}&CatID={c3d20537-a610-442e-860d-14c11a856263} or is on one of the DVDs that came with your PC)

It may also be worth running a check for registry errors, just to make sure nothings gone wrong there. You can run a registry check using CCleaner (available to download at CCleaner - Home ). Just so you know running registry checks too often can cause its own problems so unless you have a problem do not check for registry errors more than once or twice a year at most.

If you boot the computer into safe mode with networking and try to recreate the problem does the PC still hang and become unresponsive?

I have updated the driver software via Device Manager, rather than Windows Update, which said it was fine. At the moment the problem seems resolved... lets just hope it continues to be....
