Problem accessing the internet

I am a Vista Home Premium user and i cant access the internet to surf etc.
My friends noticed that the isatap and 6to4 adapters are not working. They have been uninstalled, reinstalled, disabled, updated etc but it still cant work. Pls help really desperate need to use net for work

did u try to powercycle your modem/router? turn off both modem/router for 30 seconds, plug back modem, wait for 30 seconds, plug back router wait for 30 seconds, reboot computer.

make sure you have updated to sp1 or 2 to get driver updates.

Ed um i dunno how to do the SysInfo Tool thing as this is another com and when i put it into my own computer they open it using safari and i cant see. What should i open it with? In the cmd i typed in the code and they say access denied.

Oh and when i was in school, my friend disabled the Ipv6 protocol and i could access the school's internet. Now i am back home and i cant access. It has the same problem as before. My proxies etc all correct, i went to the same website as i did in school when my friend fixed it etc. Now i cant access again

I'm getting a little confused, Darren.

You say you're home now but you're using a different computer than the one you're having trouble accessing the internet with; is that correct?

What kind of computer and OS are you using and what kind of computer and OS is yours? Safari's from Apple, so is one of them a Macintosh?

The computer you're using can access the internet OK; correct?

Is Safari on the computer you're using (if not, which browser is?) or on yours?

Do you have a USB memory stick?

Um i using a HP my mum's and hers is on windows but when i transfer the file to my com using a thumbdrive it automatically opens it using safari but as my internet cannot work... Both are windows vista.
My com is a fujitsu and my mom's is a hp, both are windows and only my laptop out of the five cannot access the internet

Download the SysInfo file, from the link I gave you, on your mom's HP and save it to your thumbdrive.

Plug that into your own PC and run the SysInfo tool from there (just click on it); Select All and export the file to your thumbdrive. While you're there, open a Command Prompt and type (exactly as shown except change X to the drive id of the thumbdrive, space between g and / and between l and >).
ipconfig /all >X:\ipconfig.txt

Plug the thumbdrive into your mom's PC and upload both of the files you created.

Is your PC plugged directly into a modem or is it connected to a router? If router, wired or wireless?

I am using a wireless. Um when i type in the command prompt it says the system cannot find the path specified, And whenever i download the vista sysnforum tool and save it on my thumbdrive, bring it over to my computer and open it, it says that it is a safari download automatically and when i click on it it says i cant complete the download

when i open the file on my com it automatically opens it with safari i dunno why safari issint my default browser anyway and in the command prompt i typed that a few times alr but it says that the path cant be found

Try this:

Open the command prompt (Start > Run, type cmd into the box, and click OK).

In the Command Prompt window, type in X: and press enter (Change X to the drive letter of your thumbdrive; you can find out what this is in Windows Explorer {Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer}).

Type in:

ipconfig /all >ipconfig.txt and press enter.

Type in "VistaForums SysInfo" including the quotes, and press enter. This should start the SysInfo tool. Click on Select All, click on the Windows logo at bottom left, and when it finishes (Done shows next to the Windows logo), click on Save Output to File at top left. In the File name box at the bottom, type in X:\Sysinfo.txt and click save (Again, replace X with the drive letter of your thumbdrive).


Plug the thumbdrive into your mom's PC and upload both of the files you created.
