Create a second "Public" folder?

Is it possible to create a second "Public" folder on a network drive? I have a large hard drive connected to another computer on the network. My Vista laptop can access this entire drive (it is shared). The reason for wanting to do this is that my new TV will only let me access media files that are in the public folder on the laptop and there is only the one public folder, and no way is there enough room on that computer for all my photos, videos and music. Any help would be appreciated.

The TV is wireless to the router. Using Samsung"s PC Share Manager software. There is no problem with the connection since I CAN see the files on the TV as long as they are in the C:\Users\Public folder on the laptop.

hey bill2reg,

If I have your right, you say you have 2 computers on your network, and the TV only sees one of them?

Have you tried moving the directories on your larger-storage machine into its Public directory? Can the TV see this computer's Public directory?

Not quite right. I installed the software on my Vista laptop. Only folders and files that are in it"s public folder show up on the TV. I can add files from any network drive in the software interface windows and there are no error messages or anything, but they just don"t show up on the TV. I know it is not the files, the folders or formats because if I move a file into the public folder then it works fine on the TV. But the laptop hard drive (where the public folder is) is way too small for all the photos, videos and music that I want to share. Do I would like to make another public folder on the network drive, which is 1TB for a lot of storage.

OK bill2reg,

Try this on for size. Look up the following topic in Vista help: "Redirect a folder to a new location." This will allow you to move the physical storage of your laptop's public drive to any network drive you choose. But the logical location will still (appear to) be on your laptop. If you want to keep some files accessible on your laptop when you're not at home, you can always put a copy into another folder on your laptop.

Hope this helps.

Right, What Ardneh said.

Don't give up on this, it's really pretty easy, and I think it should work for you.
