There is unsecure line at my house wich I am using on this computer,,,my other computer is a Sony laptop with a windows Vista Home Premium and its the one wich the internet won't work.. When I open the Network and Sharing Center it shows that the computer is connected to the wireless service ( it has a green light)and it shows the name of the wireless and then the lines continue in red with a red "x" mark and it shows a globe icon representing the internet.

So it shows 3 icons "my computer" "the wireless service" and the "internet" and the line across all and again the first line green and the second line red.

Can you please check your internet setting, if you tools > internet options > lan settings > check and see it is set to automatically detect internet connection.
Also right click on the network icon on the below right hand corner of the tool bar.. go to status > properties check the TCP , whether it is set to automatically get the ip address

Ok I follow steps above and still did not work. I attached two files. the one called save2 is what it shows after IE browser checks for problems.

Please open the One Care Live Firewall application or control settings and disable it and then reboot. Then see if you can connect. If so, we need to adjust some settings in the firewall (or switch to Windows Firewall instead) which are blocking the connection.

If that doesn't work, boot into Safe Mode with Networking and see if you can connect from there. Whatever the answer, it will assist us in narrowing down the potential causes.

Try a clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit causing the problem. Follow the procedures in the article. Once found, delete, remove, deactivate, or uninstall it. Once done be sure to reset Vista back to normal status as explained in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal status and reboot - this solution is not going to work.

If none of the above helps, post back with details of what you tried and what happened when you did and we'll see what other options we can check.

Good luck!

I am not exactly sure what happened but its fixed, and it must have been as simple as switching the internet connection from public to a private and I don't exactly know what steps I took but now there are 3 icons, now the middle icon shows the picture of a home and before it was showing some other picture representing the wireless connection and once that home icon appear; the internet work.

Thank you all for your help.

Fantastic news! It was our pleasure. I'm glad we were able to assist (however that occurred).

Networks can be tricky and sometimes one small setting makes all the difference in the world. I wish we knew exactly what happened (perhaps it was private vs. public) and why it worked so we could all learn from it, but perhaps it's good enough that things are now working. I will see to it that the thread is marked as solved.

Thanks for letting us know that the problem is resolved - it is appreciated.

Good luck and best wishes!
