ipconfig /release or /renew doesnt work

Hi, I have a problem with my laptop. For some weird reason, it connects to the internet, but with limited connectivity. I tried to to diagnose and repair and it gave me three options, "The network adapter "Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues", "Make sure your Internet Protocol Bindings are correct", and "View wireless network security settings for "Shiftgears." When I tried the first option, it said to try and update, but it is already fully updated and that the device is working properly. For the next option, I've tried disabling IPv6, but that didn't work either. As for the last option, I tried changing around the key index, which seemed to make the internet work for at least 5 hours, and now the problem is back again. Another weird thing, is that all the other computers in the house are connected to the internet with no problem, except for my laptop. We're all connected using a wireless router. I also went to command prompt and did ipconfig /all, which gave me,

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name..............................:MyLaptop-LT
Primary Dns Suffix.....................:
Node Type..............................: Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled....................: No
WINS Proxy Enabled..................: No

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 11:

Media State............................: Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix...:
Description.............................:Taredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
Physical Address......................: 02-00-54-55-4E-01
DHCP Enabled..........................: No
Autoconfiguration Enabled.........: Yes

Then I tried to ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, which both gave me,

Windows IP Configuration

The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation.

I would really appreciate some help if I can get any, I don't know what to do at all for my laptop. Thank you for your time.

My Computer

Hello, and welcome to the Vista Forums!

First we will try a very easy fix, with I say about 50% success rate. Then we can try better fixes. Please run the batch file attached to this post, restart the computer, run it a second time, restart again, and test your internet connection and ipconfig.

It is crucial that it is run twice. Some of it will fail on the first run, but will hopefully be successful on the second.

Thanks!

Richard
