Still asking for passwords even though this function is turned off

Hi,
I'm one of several vista computers in a work network. Everyone else can share their public files but I get asked for a usename and password every time I try and access someone elses computer. The password protection function is turned OFF in my network settings. I also have the same name for my workgroup. Can someone please help?

This could be turned off on your PC but what about the others, is it off there too?

Do any of the other PC's get asked for a password at all when looking in the public folders?

Hi,
everyone else can see each other without a password prompt. I've just discovered that I can get into other people's computers if I type 'guest' into the log in.

It sounds as thought the "Connect to a network" function in Network & sharing Center has not been run or was stopped half way?

Please run this, on your PC & ensure the settings are correct, as it should sort out the issue.
