ok where to start, bought a wireless adaptor, tried to install but told me to turn "On" windows wireless.....tried to start WLan Auto Config, but got Error 1068: The Dependency service or group failed to start.....so i check properties, check the dependencies, some are "started", and 2 are not (CNG Key Isolation & Extensible Auth. Protocol)....tried to start them but got same error 1068 for the EAP, and got Error 3: The System Cannot Find Path Specified, for CNG...AHHHH.......so i run a hijackthis to see whats up, got alot of "file missing" and "No file"......so i go to System32 folder, and look for each one....EVERYTHING is there.....

so, the question is.....Why Cant I Start WLAN Autoconfig???why cant i start EAP? why cant KeyIso "be found"??

this has become a HUGE headache just to make a pc "wireless"

thanx

p.s...for the record, i already did the regedit changing 3's to 2's 4 to 2's etc etc....no luck

p.s.s. i already did most cmd prompts and did sfc scan, got the typical some files could not be fixed

p.s.s.s. even tried to do system restore and couldnt even do that, got an error....didnt write that one down because i threw my pen lol

Hello, and welcome to the Vista Forums!

HiJackThis often reports file as not found. This is an issue with HiJackThis alone, and nothing to do with your computer. This is nothing to worry about.

I need to take two logs from your computer. This should get the results for SFC, System Restore, and that service error.

Please copy C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log to your Desktop, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and then upload it here.

Then:

Please download VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your desktop
Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.
Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left
Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).
Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run
Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad
Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply

Thanks!

Richard
